Deadline for EQIP applications is Dec. 21, 2012
The NRCS is currently accepting applications for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program for next year.
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program is a conservation funding program managed by the USDA's Natural Resource Conservation Service.
As forest owners we receive both technical and financial assistance to implement a range of timber stand improvement and wildlife habitat enhancement projects on our property. NRCS is also helping us to further develop our comprehensive forest management plan.
I encourage other forest owners to look into EQIP. It's a financial incentives program that provides a set reimbursement rate for eligible projects like thinning, pruning, and slash reduction.
Contact your local NRCS office to determine your eligibility. For more information on EQIP, visit the NRCS's website here.
