Workshop: Protecting Your Home and Property from Wildland Fire - Cashmere

Learn how to reduce the risk of wildfire damage to your property and home by maintaining healthy forests. I'll give a landowner's perspective on the grant programs we've participated in.

Forestry experts will discuss fire history and forest health basics. My friend Richard Schellhaas will be there to discuss fire ecology in Chelan and Douglas Counties, changes in fire management and how it has impacted the landscape. He knows his stuff.

Discussion will include techniques to keep your forested land healthy and create defensible space around your home as well as the technical and financial assistance programs available to help you get the work done.

Plus find out about opportunities for cost-share programs -- EQIP through NRCS and FLEP through DNR -- to get work done now on your private property, as we have done. NRCS has asked me to be there and give our perspective on their programs.
