Cougar

One night this winter the wildlife camera's night vision caught something besides another deer.

Rumors of cougar in our canyon turn out to be true.

We've spent a lot of time at this property over the past 11 years and have never seen a cougar. Shows how strongly they avoid humans and how little danger they actually pose.

Sometimes we see tracks in the snow that could be cat. We also have coyotes, and our neighbors have dogs, so unusual track sightings often go without further identification.

  1. The easy method to differentiate: Canine tracks will show claws. Cat tracks do not.

Also cats tend to "directly register" when walking, front and rear tracks on top of each other. Canines generally offset.

  2. I enjoyed looking at your blog. I do one from Alabama on our forest land. There are so many differences but so much alike.
